Daily maintenance of valve castings

Apr 10, 2025

Daily maintenance of valve castings mainly includes the following aspects:

‌ Regular cleaning: After long-term operation, impurities or corrosion products may accumulate inside and outside the valve, affecting the flexibility and sealing performance of the valve. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the valve surface and internal parts regularly to ensure that there is no impurity residue.

‌ Lubrication maintenance: For valves with rotating parts (such as valve stems), proper lubrication is very necessary. By adding an appropriate amount of lubricating oil or grease, wear can be reduced and service life can be extended. However, the selected lubricating material must be compatible with the medium to avoid contamination or other adverse reactions.

‌ Sealing performance inspection: The sealing performance of the valve directly affects the safety of the system. Regularly check the sealing surface, sealing gasket and other parts of the valve to ensure that there is no wear or damage. Once the sealing ring is found to be aging or damaged, a new seal should be replaced in time to prevent leakage accidents.

‌ Mechanical parts inspection and adjustment: Regularly check the mechanical parts of the valve, including the valve stem, valve stem nut, handwheel and other parts to ensure that there is no bending, deformation or wear. If the valve is found to be inflexible or stuck, it should be adjusted and cleaned in time.

‌Actuator debugging‌: For valves with automatic control functions (such as electric and pneumatic valves), the working parameters of the actuator need to be calibrated regularly to ensure that it can accurately respond to the instructions issued by the control system.

‌Abnormal situation handling‌: When encountering problems such as inflexible valve operation and loose closure, first determine whether it is caused by mechanical failure. If it is a mechanical failure, it may need to be disassembled and repaired; if it is not a mechanical reason, factors such as design defects or improper installation should be considered.

‌Protection and storage‌: For valves installed outdoors or in polluted environments, appropriate protective measures should be taken, such as installing protective covers to prevent external factors such as rain, snow, and dust from affecting the normal operation of the valve.
