Application scenarios of pump castings

Apr 02, 2025

‌Application scenarios of pump castings are very wide, mainly including the following:

‌ Centrifugal pumps ‌: The casting applications of centrifugal pumps include large structural parts such as pump bodies and volutes. These parts usually adopt casting technology, using the flow characteristics of metal liquid to achieve one-time molding of complex flow channels. Impeller parts are mostly cast for medium and low pressure conditions according to the working pressure level, while forging is preferred for high pressure conditions.

‌ Submersible pumps ‌: The structural characteristics of submersible pump castings include large differences in wall thickness, with the thinnest part only 2 to 3 mm and the thickest part reaching more than 25 mm. Due to poor casting performance and difficulty in production control, the smelting method of high silicon-carbon ratio cast iron is used instead of the original traditional process to meet the use requirements.

‌ Vacuum pumps ‌: In the metallurgical industry, dry vacuum pumps are used to keep organic solvents separated during calcination and forging processes. For example, in the production of tungsten alloys, vacuum pumps are used to remove organic solvents from paraffin and alcohol and sinter them in a vacuum sintering furnace.

Other application areas: Pump castings are also widely used in a variety of mechanical equipment products such as internal combustion engines, agricultural machinery, rail transportation equipment, power generation equipment, shipbuilding, etc. These application areas demonstrate the importance and diversity of pump castings in industry and mechanical equipment.
